I was listening to the radio yesterday and one of the hosts tald a story about flying coast to coast here in the US. He was in first class, hadn't had breakfast and so was very hungry. The first class cabin was half full and after meal service, he asked if he could have another meal, or seconds

The flight attendant got quite prissy and said "But you've already eaten", he explained he was still hungry and if there were any spare meals could he have one. The attendant stormed off and brought him the meal.
Which leads to my question(s).
1. Are unserved meals just thrown away at the end of the flight - or what?
2. If someone asks for seconds and there are spare meals are there any SOPs that disallows serving them to those that ask?
3. What would/should the attitude of the FA have been?
many thanks
