Catering for return flights

Most short/medium-haul flights carry catering for return leg which is similar to fuel tankering. What is a common threshold (in terms of flight time i.e. more than 6 hours) when catering uplift at destination airport is required due to storage conditions, etc? I understand that the answer may not be straightforward, for simplicity let's assume it's a typical jet acft, with typical galley equipment, meals carried are typical for 'full-fare' airline.

Thanx.
