Folks,
In the good old days, QF had a warning system (pre-dated the BA encounter with Mt Galunggung) that not only included all the state sources, but paid a small retainer to locals (usually Ausaid school teachers) to ring ops. in Sydney as soon as there was local volcanic activity.
There were examples of aircraft in flight getting warnings within 30 minutes of a local eruption in Indonesia, and hours to days before any "official" notifications.
Does this still exist? Or has it been the victim of the vandals currently decimating the "real" Qantas.
Tootle pip!!
