My 1974 Piper Cherokee Cruiser had the cable AD done back in March during the periodic inspection when the AD had only been current for a few days.

Turnbuckles/barrels were both stamped 1973 and we decided to toss them rather than bother cleaning them up as I was quoted only $20 each for new ones.

Quote from Invoice 21/3/2013: FNQ Cables - Manufacture Stabilator Cables P/N: FNQ62701-10, FNQ62701-11, FNQ62701-12, FNQ62701-13 IA6053 - Cost $718.69 + GST. So more like $200 per cable, not $200 for the lot!

ADDITIONAL WORK CARRIED OUT: Stab control system inspected. Stabilator control cables and turnbarrels unserviceable. New cables and turnbarrels fitted to aircraft. Duplicate inspection of elevator control cables carried out. Fuel line grommet replaced with new item at RH feed through under cabin floor. Surface corrosion found on inside skin of fuselage tail section. Corrosion treated with LPS Procyon. Cost $1080.00 + GST

So all up about $2000 on top of the Annual including treating the corrosion found inside the tail section with everything stripped out. No freight charges on the cables as FNQ Cables is an in-house company with Ian Aviation at Archerfield who did all the work.
