This just shows how ridiculous the security situation is, you probably won't be able to take your torch for the fear that the security man/lady might deem it a blunt object that you could use as a weapon.
To be fair a D-cell maglite would serve extremely well as a weapon and I'm sure many people buy the big maglites because of their multi-role functionality. If some villain was breaking into my house in the dead of night, a firm tap on the bonce with my 3D maglite would most likely resolve the situation until the constabulary or the coroner arrive. Much as I love berating airport security drones, removing a viable weapon would seem quite reasonable.
