This isn't really Luton news, but I notice EL AL have announced they are launching a new low cost carrier called "UP" and switching a few 737-800's to the new airline.
In the press release a number of routes are being switched to the Low Cost operation... Luton isn't mentioned, but makes me wonder if it could be switched going forward.
Does anyone know if EL AL offer First or Business traffic on the LTN-TLV routes and if so, how does this cabin perform? Luton as an airport, isn't really renowned for premium traffic on scheduled services and more value for money. I'm just wondering if we could see EL AL switch this route to the Low Cost airline in time? It would position them better to compete with easyJet.
Going by how the 767's are currently configured they wouldn't loose much capacity, switching to a high density 737-800...
