I hear from colleagues working in the training system that we have. A couple of young post-wings trainees are off for a couple of years as a fishead driving boats around, on a promise of a JCA slot in the future....
....and that is just to get Bridge watchkeeping qualified. My guess is that these two will have to follow an RN career path, returning to sea on a regular bab=sis to keep their bridge qualifications valid and take their maritime command exams. I wonder which one will be the first to transfer to the RN full time!
