If QF or BA really wants them, Boeing will give each or either some reserved slots.
BA was reportedly complaining that the aircraft was tailored too closely to EK's requirements.
There's an old saying:
"Money talks and b......t walks".
If anybody outside the sandpit wants the airplane, I'm sure that Boeing would be happy to take a deposit and for a decent order come up with a more suitable dash something model.
Meanwhile, it's hard to argue with the orders placed by the rapidly growing airlines of a certain region.
I'm sure that neither Boeing nor Airbus are crying.
