You can get a check ride at a foreign training authority endorsed on your Canadian license, It's in CAR's, I'm trying to recall the exact wording but it goes along the lines of "If the check ride and training are done according to the isuing states regulations are are acceptable to that state with the final exam being done by an examiner of that state (in this case the FAA) then transport Canada recognizes such a check ride and training to be sufficient for endorsement of a type rating"

There are a few forms that would need to be filled out by the examiner and also a letter by the States Aviation authority that the training was done according to their requirements and satisfaction.

For example Flight Safety is a recognized training provider in Canada, and it is recognized by the FAA, you would need records of your flight test and a letter from the FAA stating that your check ride was done according to their regulations.

I did ground school and training with the FAA and it was recognized by Canada, though I did my check ride with a Canadian examiner in order to expedite the endorsement process since I already had a Canadian license and after six months am still waiting to get the damn FAA license

One thing to bear in mind is that the TCAA does not endorse P2 ratings from a foreign license, only P1 ratings are transferable. If your check ride is being done with a P2 restriction you might end up with some complications. Just contact Transport Canada, they are usually very helpful, also brush up on the section of the CAR's that are relevant in order to expedite your request as sometimes it's the top man that makes the final decision in ambiguous situations.
