Please let me know how you get rid of it. I have tried for months and even delted references to it in the registary.
I used the control panel / unistall option in Windows XP (Yes I am watching the calendar

). It looked authentic because I received web pages from AVG asking why I was uninstalling both AVG and their nice new toolbar (?).
Messages at the end of the process assured me that everything AVG was gone. Avast was duly installed and assumed it's duties as expected.
I've yet to check on the machine this morning (coffee not yet kicked in), but I'll wander out there when this happens in the expectation that all is well ....
