I think I'll go along with the thread title, assuming the "they" refers to the military organisers and or the SNCOs or Os i/c the troops on the day.
The PBI's ranks have often numbered amongst them inner city thugs - and rightly so. It probably helps
not to be deep thinkers as you fix bayonets to engage the enemy at close quarters - doubtless uphill, at night, in the rain and on the join of 4 maps. And a bl%%dy good job they do too.
