Am I the only one that's more than a little cynical about Assad's sudden, apparent change of direction? The move from being a CW armed state to begging to be allowed to become the 190th signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention is one hell of a turn around. It all smacks too much of Gadaffi's miracle 'rehabilitation' all those years ago.
All of this has brought about a considerable media shift with much more press showing the rebels as the bad guys.
PR coup or has Assad just had a vision in the middle of the night that converted him into the World's most progressive and liberal leader? The will to come in out of the cold or an opportunity to avert having his forces crushed by Uncle Sam?
