If anyone else wants to see what the Civil Air Ensign looks like, go to
www.flags.net/UNKG.htm . This site also shows how the Union Flag/Jack isn't symmetrical. Further to the discussion on whether it should be called the Union Jack if flown at the bow/nose of a civil vessel/aircraft, there's a special flag for this called the UK Civil Jack (also shown on the web page), a Union Flag with a white border, so this should be the one painted on the aircraft's nose.
If you enter "Civil Air Ensign" (with the quotes) into Google Image, it comes up with the UK one, plus those for some other, mainly Comonwealth, countries.
