Another aspect of this very sorry story is the issue of ELTs . We are constantly berated by the authorities if we have not had the ELT battery expiry dates prominently displayed ....blah , blah , blah .... But as one old and respected engineer pointed out to me , there is no system/ equipment in Kenya to actually locate an ELT which is surely bleeping after a high impact crash such as this one obviously was . It's a disgrace .
