At some point in time, during a serving soldier's/sailor/airman's career, he will come across ammo that he will not hand in either from an action or on the range. Any type of ball ammo (cannon balls excepted) has found its way into their gear. The practice of handing unused ammo to a senior caused said senior some embrrassment so he put in the top shelf of his MQ wardrobe. Simples.
Agree entirely
Surrey Towers, although I have some sympathy with
PN's comments above.
But at the risk of introducing facts into the argument, let us remind ourselves (good courtroom phrase that!) of the ammunition concerned in this case......
122 x 9mm live rounds of ammunition
40 x 7.62mm live rounds of ammunition
50 x 9mm frangible rounds of ammunition
50 x 338 armour piercing live rounds of ammunition
2 x .308 live rounds of ammunition
74 x 5.56mm live rounds of ammunition
Not so simples methinks.....
