If I read the BBC report correctly he
will be discharged in February 2014, so is still a serving soldier.
Regarding the +- 300 rounds of ammo. Sgt Nightingale was a member of the training staff and would have spent half his life on the range. I suspect the 300 rounds were accumulated and not returned to the armoury after each days shooting, but taken to the range direct from home/barracks when required, illegal but not uncommon.
