Transport aircraft safety is all about multiple, redundant, independent layers of safety systems. And when everything else fails, cabin crew are the final layer of safety, to save lives. This was my first thought, when I read about the accident and learned that roughly 300 people were alive: at least something worked out as it's supposed to do. Cabin crew first noticed the fire, informed the pilots, fought the fire, and managed to quickly evacuate everyone, despite incapacitated crew members. Last person to leave was CC (apparently the cabin manager), that says it all. Job well done is an understatement.
