"SER" may stand for Service Engineering Request - perhaps newly-certified, upgraded hardware (turbine?) installed on a limited basis (perhaps at no cost) in certain customers' engines for field evaluation.
If the SER proves successful - meeting design objectives - the new hardware will probably be released for unlimited use.
