CRM would indeed be useful to IPs, since good airmanship (which should be taught to the student) also involves knowledge about your team. The team being those in the aircraft, ATC, meteorologists, mechanics and fellow students etc.
CRM, as practised by the airlines, would not be very useful in daily operations, since the IP is (usually) not supposed to help the student unless he/she is unable to perform the task safely by him-/ herself. However, one could perhaps focus on the need to involve the rest of the team in case of an emergency / urgency situation.
