"Culture at work in aviation and medicine" by Robert Helmreich and Ashleigh Merritt is arguably a good source for research on culture (clashes) and CRM. Another source that might be of interest can be downloaded here:

I should have full-text access to those two, e-mail me if interested. A case that may serve as an illustration how bad financial conditions and uncertainty potentially contribute to CRM-related accidents is West Caribbean Airways Flight 708, but it's probably not a very convincing case. Empirical studies directly dealing with the topic will IMHO be hard to find, although it would be a highly interesting topic, as a sound empirical research design will be virtually impossible to realize here.
