The, finally up and running, AMAN system is a big improvement over the old inbound flow system. No it won't mean no holding. As Rule3 says, until Dubai Airports allocate and enforce proper landing slots, we will have to deal with more arrivals per hour than the current runway system can accommodate. AMAN has provided a much more even flow and more accurate holding times and you can usually expect to follow the star for a 10-15nm final. Accurate arrival rates can be set for unusual circumstances like single runway ops or LVO's so it should be much better for fuel planning etc.
All we need now is a decent Departures manager system too.
DB's new AT3 computer system on the other hand is not much fun...
