I believe airplane and company must be US registered.
In Africa (every country I know of there) you have to convert your CPL to that country's CPL, unless it's a US company with a US plane.
In the UK, your FAA CPL (or PPL) is good as a PPL, but to get paid you have to have a JAA CPL or be flying for a US company in a US plane.
