Regarding the closure of the Gatwick-Manchester route,I believe we need to keep things in perspective here.
I don't think anyone has actually said that this is anything more than a bit of re-structuring.

Domestic routes are pretty much becoming less feasible over time anyway, mostly due to the government's stance on air travel, but I agree with Skipness (Manchester thread), that GIP do have to be a bit careful with their charges, otherwise they'll only shoot themselves in the foot. However, I don't agree that EDI / GLA will follow soon...... well not too soon??


BA still carries 5million passengers a year to and from Gatwick. Somehow I don t believe they will be willing just to give them away.
So one route down maybe a couple of new ones to be announced. Hardly the end of life as we know it.
I don't think BA will be going anywhere for a while. That 5 million will probably creep up a bit over the next 6 months or so.
