Not quite correct. MSE and AVG work fine on the same machine. You do need to install MSE before AVG. On that point, AVG 2013 looks like a piece of crap with it trying to imitate the Windows 8 look. Not nice and awful to navigate.
Malwarebytes is well worth installing but please not that it is NOT an antivirus program.
Kaspersky have a nice simple Root Kit Killer. Google TDSS Killer for the lastest version.
Whatever you do, DON'T install Norton. It is rubbish!!
