Well, I got my 'pi and the pre-loaded card with Debian OS.
I don't know what I don't know yet but;
I have a portable telly and/or a Commodore computer monitor, both with composite video inputs, both fail to display in colour, both show the picture so far to the left hand side of the tube that the start of every line is missing.
In the MagPi Issue 2 page 9, it says if your picture doesn't fit the screen try changing aspect ratio. No indication of how or where you do this.
Any ideas? Ta.
Also, in the Element14 getting started .pdf, just after it tells you how to login when the 'pi boots up it says "now you can set the clock", just like that, no suggestion how. I got as far as "man hwclock" and the hardware clock commands are displayed but none of them work, I get a message that makes me think that the hardware clock is not implimented on the pcb. The toolbar on the graphical UI does attempt to display time. Is this displayed time just a SW virtual clock? Is there a hardware clock? How should I set the clock? I also did "man time" and the info said that "time()" should return something useful but what happens is "sintax error at or near to )" or something like that.
Again, any ideas? Ta.
My embedded linux friend, who is going to get me going with programming, has just gone to the US for a couple of weeks, so please take pity on me, got my 'pi and I wanna play!
Thanks,
Rans6.....
