Ryanair have confirmed that negotiations about a new order are underway and it will be for 300 aircraft over 15 years, didn't say what aircraft company.
Its a nice time to be negotiating.
EU starts to play ball or Airbus gets shafted for US Aircraft which given EU adminstrators are drawn from various countries it would get interesting in the blame game. Assumming a €15-16 Billion order at list price..........actual will be substantially different as you would expect with vendor financing / discounts etc.
Nice way to bring EU to heel on some issues.
Much as the French etc talk about issues their beloved Airbus factories getting busier talks more than bureaucracy.
US can't afford to lose a $20 billion order at book value especially as their economy is in a tight squeeze and new administration in 2013 will want to support their big players. Hence either newly elected President will do what is required.
Anybody who believes Airbus or Boeing wouldn't sell their granny and family for this order doesn't really know aviation.
CV with obtaining 300 Aircraft order from Ryanair for £/€/$ Billion is what matters to the head of commercial aviation.
As for past spats............... past is easily forgotten when salesman gets a huge new order.
