Quite correct, edi_local. Unfortunately talk of investing in EDI often causes some commentators, invariably from certain geographic biases, to froth at the mouth in indignation.

The good news is that rail access to EDI will still be possible from Edinburgh itself, plus Fife, Dundee, Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness, so the Gateway Station is not a wasted project. Access from West Lothian, Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow is still possible via Edinburgh Park station, which will be connected to the tram network.

The recent tail-backs and chaos during the Royal Highland Show demonstrated how EDI's surface access strategy really does need to be urgently re-examined. It's simply not good enough for an airport of EDI's size and growing stature. Hopefully GIP will co-operate with the authorities as far as possible to rectify the situation.
