I highly object to that statement.
The access roads to EDI are horrendous at the best of times. I worked at EDI up until a few months ago and even on an average day (no highland show, no big even in central Edinburgh, no pandas, no road accidents) one could expect traffic to slow to a crawling pace and a journey time of 20 minutes to get from the long stay car park to the newbridge roundabout was not unheard of in some cases. The access to EDI is decades behind the traffic levels and something should have been done about it ages ago. Having separate, dedicated access to/from the M8 for the airport and a separate road for the showground is just one thing that they should have built by now.
