As an example, in the Commission's latest update on its investigation into Angouleme airport and its aid to Ryanair, it notes that in 2008 the net payment (charges payable by Ryanair, minus marketing support payable by the airport) was -€14 per passenger.
How many passengers actually used these routes, and from where?

It is my job to keep an eye on routes, I wasn't particularly on the ball back then, but I have no recollection of Ryanair going there.

I can't see that sort of cash being available at LYS. The routes already exist, so why should Ryanair be given money when others wouldn't?

However, as already mentioned, LYS does have a sizeable catchment, not to mention plenty of reason for inward visitors too - food year round, and skiing to burn off those calories in the winter.

Then again, so does BVA. I think the real reason why Ryanair don't like setting up base in France is the labour laws.
