The US airlines are over the top the other way. Signs almost always left on until top of climb, slightest burble and "bing" go the signs, short sector, signs left on the whole flight regardless of turbulence, basically forcing anyone who needs a lav to defy the sign. I suppose part of that is our American love of a lawsuit for pretty much any reason......
