Thumbs up v. impressed with Comair

Dear all,

I've just spent a week in Florida with specific purpose of visiting Comair to help me decide if I want to go there in the Spring. Spent a lot of time talking to various people there and am v impressed with their set up. A few comments on the above thread which you may find helpful:

1. They do a full time modular JAA course. So no conversion required on return to UK. Talk to Chris McShea on the free phone number above. He emailed me details of the courses (pdf format). At end of the 2 years (or sooner if required) you do IR and MCC at Coventry back in UK to complete the course.

2. J1 visa allows a 24 month visit during which time you can work as a flight instructor after completing relevant ratings. Approx $10 per hour but important experience building time.

3. Excellent student support infrastructure. If I go out in April I will take a young family so I want to be sure that we'll be looked after. We (me and wife) were v impressed with level of practical care offered to students to help them settle into the area.

4. I spoke to several Brits at Comair - all speak v highly of it. The first JAA 'professional pilot programme' is under way - next course due for kick off in April as far as I understand.

5. Nice place to live. Spent a few days being tourists. Good area. Wonderful to get some bright sunshine and decent temperatures for a few days. Met Mickey Mouse - what more can you ask for?

6. I did not get refund on air fare but was told that if I sign-up it will be credited as flying time. Sounds good to me.

Hope this helps a bit. Give them a call - no excuse not to cos it's a freephone number.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all,

DAL

PS Mickey passes on his regards.
