Actually, none of that is true. 50 percent are below (and above) *median*. The average (arithmetic mean) is not the number in the middle. If you have 99 people with an IQ of 110 and one with an IQ of 140, the average IQ for the group is 110.3, so you have 99% of the group of below average intelligence.
