1. The very first tactic Qantas engages in is always to appeal to employees ego by references to "Professionalism", "fairness" and "decency". The old ALAEA leaders not only fell for this approach every time, but regurgitated it to its members.

The Pilots unions are still falling for it, in my opinion, because the Ego personality component necessary to be a successful pilot leaves them very vulnerable to such entreaties.
I agree with all of that.

2. The reality demonstrated time and again over the last Ten years is that Qantas treats its employees with utter and complete contempt.....
Again, I agree.

Your "immense pride" is unfortunately misplaced, unless of course you are a manager far enough up the organisation to be able to write your own first class tickets.
Nope, I'm a line pilot which was exactly what I wanted to be. Flying is a huge part of my life and I hope it stays that way but, given that I do not want to move my family OS at this stage of life, the reality is that flying may not always be part of my life so I am therefore dealing with that. I have other strings to my bow (albiet a bit dusty and not pulled for a while) so that's fortunate for me I guess.

A visit to the Qantas Museum in Longreach would explain exactly where my pride comes from better than I could explain it.

Anyway, a bit of thread drift I guess so that'll do.
