Renewing an old UK PPL

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone on here can give me a bit of guidance. I'm currently training a chap who last flew on his license 26 years ago, and has a UK PPL issued in 1982.

The aim is to get his license renewed. With EASA coming in we'd like to get it renewed and issued as an EASA PPL, which as I understand it, will come in after 1 July.

He's had a class 2 medical done, is booking a radio test and is getting close to the end of the training I've planned. We've got a PPL Examiner lined up for when he's ready for the Skills Test.

Has anyone out there done this kind of thing recently eg. UK PPL to JAR PPL ? I'm just wondering if we're going to run into any complications with the process, given that its a renewal but with a change to a different flavour of license as well.

Any advice much appreciated
