Would you have renewed your IR/medical etc for £1000 a year forever after? Would you have splashed out £27,000 on a TR only to be told you need line training or that they didn't need contractors right now? Would you have spent money doing interviews and sim checks at airlines that don't have any intention of recruiting any of the candidates at that moment, more they just want to keep HR paying for itself? Would you have sent out 100's of CVs and covering letters that never got read? Would you have spent money getting instructor licenses and worked part time for peanuts haemorrhaging more cash as you subsidise your dreadful income? Would you have spent 5 years+ flying ropey aircraft in the back of beyond raking up more debt in the hope someone would note the experience on your CV? - They wouldn't by the way.
you are totally right, but I can go further, even experience doesn't count these days, even if you have 1000h or 2000h (even on type) , they don't care. I know many guys with no job, many 320 and 737guys still sitting at home. Now we worry about these licenses we have to renew. it 's not only you coming out of school who have problems, it's everybody. This industry is on its knees, and with fuel going up in the future, it' s not going to be easier..
better to sell ice-cream on the beach. It' s risk free, no training, ...anyway, you all have been warned:" don't pay up front, go modular,..."but you didn't listen, you went your own way, thinking to jump the line, now it' s time for pay back.

as for training prospect, it would be better to chose a profession based on job opportunities than just the "glamour side". Would you like to be locked in a cockpit for 10-12 hours a day and follow same procedures and check lists the rest of your life until you are bored to death?because this is the reality. You don't fly these planes like a aeroclub plane.it's all pull/push/twist knobs' job.
