707:
I have watched your recent postings on pprune with great interest and fascination. I am consumed with huge admiration at your encyclopaedic knowledge of matters aviation.
However, I am totally intrigued at your suggestion that DHL might be considering scraping some of their aircraft. I do know that, whilst it is terribly time consuming, polishing aircraft can do wonders for their performance but I am itching to hear just how scraping their aircraft might help. It might work with carrots on a one-off basis but I would have thought that the average airframe would be somewhat damaged in the process.
It seems to me that the possible benefits that might be derived from this new aerodynamic theory of yours might be lost in the
need to re-skin each aircraft so treated at every 'C' check. In any event, I am very, very glad that I don't fly for DHL if they are to adopt your suggestion.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to try it out on their BAe 146 fleet first? After all, they do have a fair number of BAe 146s and would have no difficulty finding replacements on the secondhand
market at the moment. By the way, just how many BAe 146s do you reckon DHL have at the moment just so that we can be sure?
To the rest of you:
I am sorry to get a bit off-topic (as usual) but I think 707 has got himself on the wrong website having suffered a total INS failure in the vicinity of Clapham Junction.
