However, to be fair - it's in the minority.
I live in Jumeirah and although the villas are about 10 years old they're fairly modern. The build quality is better here than the villas I viewed at the new silicon development although the furnishings aren't as luxurious.
As the old saying goes it's all about Location, Location, Location and we're 5 minutes walk from the beach, schools and cafes/shops whilst still in a quiet area... so we're very happy.
You won't get a choice on where to live although you can state your preferences before you join.
