The NHS has just brought in a protocol for the testing of metallic ions in the blood after certain types of hip surgery. This requires a blood test and an MRI scan if the ions are raised. It's a new enough development so that there are no long term statistics available on how evil a blood stream full of ions might be. Whether the CAA pick up on that and require such testing to be compulsory probably depends on whether someone from their medical section reads this post.
