The vast majority of flight schools in SA are remarkably similar. They operate aircraft that were either built long before I was born or newer ones that are non type certified. They employ instructors that have low time and are still learning to fly themselves. They teach techniques that suit their operation/cost objectived primarily and your experience secondarily. Their maintenance is at best scratchy and their greed is distasteful. They will try too woo you with stories about the CFI who is a co-pilot on a A340 or some other garbage but effectively its a slightly formalised version of a 'car boot' operation.

There are many of them at Lanseria
Lanseria Flight Centre
Aeronav
Foster Aero
Skyhawk
And then many more at the other airfields.

They all suck and should be avioded.

There are one or two exceptions (43rd I have heard might be one) and they are worth looking at. For the rest, keep your money or spend it in sunny Florida where you get what you pay for.
