Incident: Ryanair B738 at Alicante on Jan 6th 2011, landed without clearance

A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-EFX performing flight FR-9085 from East Midlands,EN (UK) to Alicante,SP (Spain) with 168 passengers and 6 crew, was in contact with approach control and was cleared for the approach to Alicante. The crew continued for a safe landing in Alicante.
The Spanish Comision de Investigacion de Accidentes e Incidents de Aviacion Civil (CIAIAC) reported the crew realized only after landing that they were still on the approach frequency, had not contacted the tower and therefore did not obtain landing clearance. The CIAIAC is investigating.
Ryanair said: "Ryanair operates over 1,400 daily flights and we have a policy of not commenting on individual or routine flight events."
