There is another issue that has as yet not been mentioned ....
In the UAE if a company hires a basic CPLH holder he may with company sponsorship be able to apply for and obtain a UAE CPLH with the appropriate type endorsements.
As I understand due to some recent changes to the regulations .... If that pilot then has to obtain an ATPL he would HAVE to do ALL of the UAE exams necessary for the granting of that ATPL license ..... no exemptions.
If however he comes into the country with an ATPL he would be able to obtain a UAE ATPL after only completing the Air Law exam and proving competence in the aircraft.
So that is why companies would be more demanding with regard their selection criteria.
