...I can't be entirely sure about this, but I suspect ADA hire Captains, and you need a tick in all the boxes required for that role. Most offshore operators at least have a night standby requirement...I don't know what ADA night experience requirements are but you certainly need an ATP for the offshore gig, and to get an ATP (in some jurisdictions) 100 hours night experience is a pre-requisite.
Experience requirements are often set by the clients, however sometimes there is flexibility there and that's something the employer will take up with the client on a case by case basis. I do know that, for the offshore operator in PNG, some pilots who don't get a tick in all the boxes have never-the-less been hired because they have strong general flying experience, and they initially fill a "co-Captain" role in a 2-pilot crew with a Captain who does have a tick in all the boxes.
