Regardless of how good the RFDS thing is, it can still be a great trip. Fantastic country. Interesting places to stop. Fly the extra 30 min to Port Augusta for Mobil swipe fuel (unless YLEC's 2 weeks for fuel is real). Have whiting at the Augusta Hotel. Do the Pitchi Richi railway from Port Augusta or Quorn. You can fly into (and stay at ) Rawnsley Park Station. If you have time pop up to Arkaroola and do the ridgetop tour and stop at Broken Hill or Mungo National Park on the way. You'll have a great time. Its not too far to go up to Lake Eyre either. Stop at Olympic Dam for fuel (ring ahead to co-ordinate a time). Stay at William Creek or potentially Wirraminna Station.
