Yes, Pension schemes aren't popular in Spain because there's no significant tax advantage for either employee or employer in paying in to one. Anyway, your extended family are expected to look after you in your old age (just like when you're in Hospital..now, that'll NEVER catch on in the UK will it!). Better to have the money now to do with as you wish rather than tie it up till you're 65.
