Confidentiality is something that lacked when I was with QR.
We, as seniors, had assessments to do: one general, one SEP and we used to do a TPR ( now scrapped I believe ). The cabin crew were allowed to see, discuss and sign ( or not ) the first 2, but the TPR was a confidential report that was supposed to highlight strengths and weaknesses based on a coding system. It also provided the office with relevant info regarding work positions being rotated etc etc.
So, how come I was questioned regarding one of these, by a crew member whom I had assessed using this system, when my SEALED flight brief envelope had gone in the night before and had not been collected to be delivered to the Cabin Crew dept!???
The info had been leaked by someone in the welfare dept "accidentally" and when I challenged this it was conveniently brushed aside!
It is the same when someone leaves the company...the rumours fly..oh I had it all and still get it from certain people on Pprune ( Tom Cruise springs to mind ) but the thing is people like to gossip and I believe this was the case with the incident mentioned above.
The cabin crew member should not have known that the assessment was being done. Certainly not at this early stage and probably never unless some sort of problem was highlighted.
The lady concerned was terrified, not from me, but from the thought of an assessment although she had no need to be.
This is where QR fails...people running to AAB, people with "friends in the office" bitching about other people and pre warning friends about any eventuality.
Even the crewing dept: I have a good insight due to working there...it is virtually impossible to do favours using the AIMS system, but there were other ways...and I witnessed several convenient reverting to native tongues to discuss things. I challenged something once in there and was told " listen, we'll just let him off his standby, we'll cover it..." Yes, some people had the life of riley whilst others worked unbelievably hard. It would never be noticed unless you checked back over a few months and the patterns would fall into place.
Sorry, I have rambled but sometimes it is better to get it off one's chest.
Things could be and should be wonderful at goat towers but methinks it is still the same old story. Oh, and Maha...I did not want to leave QR...I was kinda pushed for 1. asking for compassionate leave 2. someone from the welfare dept accused me of verbally stating that i wanted to complain to the foreign minister about something or other. Nobody could give me answers...I waas simply the next in line...
