If you're local to East Midlands, try Tatenhill Airfield.
It's where I have done all my flying and you don't have the issue of waiting for 737's to land before you can take off etc...
Also, being an Air/Ground airfield, you don't have to deal with a full ATC service until you're airborne - if you intend to use one that is.
I found this is a great way of learning, as I was building my confidence, knowledge and skill etc bit by bit, rather than it all being thrown at me at once.
Just to add a bit of fairness, if you fancy a challenge whilst learning to fly, there's always Derby...
