I have done some flight training at Tollerton previously and also in Australia. I have yet to complete my PPL as I too have had to place this on hold. I am considering completing my training here in Perth, Western Australia which will give me an ICAO licence, or doing an intenisive course in the USA for both JAA PPL AND FAA PPL when funds allow.
From personel experience, the training I recieved in Australia was superior to that in the UK, however, this is only my opinion and personel experience with the club concerned. I think an intensive course is the way to go as you will complete it for less expense with the continuity of training.
