Question B737 "stunt" at Canary Wharf

Hundreds of workers at London's Canary Wharf tower were peering skywards yesterday (Wed) after reports that a B737 would circle the 850ft tall tower at 1,800ft as part of a charity event.

Many left their offices to watch from neighbouring lawns and open spaces but some admitted getting out of the building because of memories of towers and aircraft on September 11.

The aircraft was due to arrive at 14.30 precisely, but 10 minutes later Wharf workers they were still watching and waiting, despite false alarms over 146s and Saab 2000s leaving LCY and bigger aircraft passing over at 4,000ft to capture the Heathrow ILS.

Does anyone know anything about this event or whether it actually happened? It seems such a strange thing to do and would have taken much organisation and complex clearances, bearing in mind the volume of air traffic in the area.

Whatever will they think of next for a charity event? Dornier 328s swooping through the Thames Barrier, Falcon 50s flying under Tower Bridge? B737s looping over the London Eye? 747-400s beating up Big Ben? The mind boggles.
