I'm curious about LGW-SKB and particularly the ANU-SKB sector - this must surely be one of the shortest hops on a B777 anywhere in the world?
In another region, would BA use the services of a local puddlejumper, but I guess they have no confidence in LIAT or Winair.
I know the 'flights seem quite full' argument is irrelevant - but the yields in SK-N must surely be from the high-spenders at the Four Seasons, and other plantation hotels, which are on Nevis. Such a short jump, only to be followed by a ferry (approx 1 hr), is a long way round. Of course, you can't get a B777 onto NEV, but wouldn't it burn less fuel to operate a triangle LGW-SKB-ANU-LGW?
Afaik, the route itself seems safe for now, thanks to input from SK govt - even in their heavily indebted status (2nd only to Japan per capita), they desperately need the tourism, not to mention the medical students from the Indian sub-continent who transit through LON.
