On my four sectors since being back at work (LH CC) the announcement has been made close to top of descent and has only been met by nods of the head and customers opposite my seat voicing their support when I sat down for landing. That was on every sector.
The announcement is discreet, to the point and unobtrusive. For someone to yell a negative response I would suggest that they have a personality disorder.
